Seminar on “Causes and Prevention of Inland Marine Accidents” Organized by NAME Department
The Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering (NAME), MIST, organized a seminar titled “Causes and Prevention of Inland Marine Accidents” today at the General Mustafiz Multipurpose Hall (GMMPH).
The event was graced by the respected Commandant, MIST, as the Chief Guest. Distinguished guest speakers included Commodore M S Bari, Director General of Shipping; Commodore Arif Ahmed Mustafa, Chairman of BIWTA; and Professor Dr. Mir Tareque Ali, Department of NAME, BUET. Lieutenant Colonel Md Rabiul Islam from the NAME Department served as the in-house speaker.
The seminar featured insightful discussions by all speakers, enriched by their vast professional experiences and relevant data from the field of inland water transport and maritime safety. The open forum session was particularly engaging, with active participation from attendees.
A significant number of senior officials from BIWTA, the Department of Shipping, and faculty members from BUET attended the seminar as special guests. The session proved to be highly informative and beneficial not only for the students but also for faculty members, contributing to knowledge exchange and awareness on a critically important national issue.
